Elmer’s Employment Opportunities

Elmer’s Texas Barbeque is a seasonal restaurant open from May 1st to October 1st.  We are open to the public 7 days a week at 5pm and close as late as 10pm. Our staff normally shows up at 4pm and leaves not later than 10:30pm.  Our peak months of operation are July and August and all holidays (i.e. Mother’s Day, Memorial Weekend, Father’s Day, Fourth of July Weekend, and Labor Day Weekend).  We hire smiling faces starting at age 14.  Because we give our youth employment opportunities, it should be known that schooling is a 1st priority. Because we hire seasonally, we also prioritize adults “real jobs” over this seasonal employment.  We give our employees every opportunity to plan out their own schedule and take time off where needed using the ScheduleFly app.  We are a small employer with about 15-20 seasonal employees. 

Currently Hiring:

Servers: 
                Start Time: 4pm
                End Time: 10:30pm’ish
                Wage: $7.75/hr plus tips (average $100 to $150/night)
                No Experience Needed
                Age Requirement: 18+ (because we serve alcohol)
                Minimum amount of shifts per week: 3
                Maximum amount of shifts per week: 4
                Summarized Description of Duties:  Serve Food and Drinks to our Customers.

Line Cooks:
                Start Time: Usually around 4pm
                End Time: 10:30pm’ish
                Wage: Based on experience and longevity, up to $15/hr
                No Experience Needed
                Age Requirement: 16+ (because of fryers, no meat slicer)
                Summarized Description of Duties:  Plate, Fry, Grill, and Bake customer’s food.
                Minimum amount of shifts per week: 4
                Maximum amount of shifts per week: 5

Dishwasher/Busser:
                Start Time: 4pm to 5pm
                End Time: 10:30pm’ish
                Wage: $8, increases for longevity, plus tips (average $20/night)
                No Experience Needed, entry level position
                Age Requirement: 14+ (with some restrictions)
                Minimum amount of shifts per week: 3
                Maximum amount of shifts per week: 4
                Summarized Description of Duties:  Wash Dishes, Clear and Clean Tables.

Host:
                Start Time: 4:30pm
                End Time: 8pm’ish
                Wage: $8+, increases for longevity
                No Experience needed, entry level position
                Age Requirement: 18+ (because you may need to serve alcohol)
                Minimum amount of shifts per week: 2 (Friday and Saturday)
                Maximum amount of shifts per week: 3 (if holiday weekend)
                Summarized Description of Duties:  Greet customers upon arrive, seat customers, check back with customers, wish customers a farewell after dinner.

Service Bartender:
                Start Time: 4pm to 5pm
                End Time: 9pm’ish
                Wage: $8, increases for longevity, plus tips (average $50/night)
                Experience is really helpful, but we can train.
                Age Requirement: 18+
                Minimum amount of shifts per week: 2 (Friday and Saturday)
                Maximum amount of shifts per week: 3 (if holiday weekend)
                Summarized Description of Duties:  Prepare specialty drinks for servers and for customers while they wait to be seated.  This position also supports the host, and taking take-out orders.

Prep Cook:
                Start Time: 9am (flexible)
                End Time: 5pm (flexible)
                Wage: $10+, increases for longevity
                No Experience needed but definitely helpful
                Age Requirement: 18+
                Minimum amount of shifts per week: 4 (Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday)
                Maximum amount of shifts per week: 4 (Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday)
                Summarized Description of Duties:  The ideal person is someone who is self-motivated and can be given a list of duties and does them without management motivation.  The work is casual and non-stressful. This position is great for a matured person and for those with a basic knowledge of how to follow a recipe.

Pavilion Servers:
                Start Time: 3pm
                End Time: 10pm’ish
                Wage: $60/night
                No Experience needed but definitely helpful
                Age Requirement: 14+
                Minimum amount of shifts per week: 2 (Friday, Saturday & Sunday)
                Maximum amount of shifts per week: 3 (Friday, Saturday & Sunday)
                Summarized Description of Duties:  Set up for Dinner Theater Show in Betty Jo’s Pavilion, serve dinner during performance, clean-up after performance.

Events Coordinator:
                Start Time: 2pm
                End Time: 10pm’ish
                Wage: $400/weekend
                No Experience required but great for a person going to college for restaurant/hospitality management
                Minimum amount of shifts per week: 3 (Friday, Saturday & Sunday)
                Maximum amount of shifts per week: 3 (Friday, Saturday & Sunday)
                Age Requirement: 18+
                Summarized Description of Duties:  Manage the set up for Dinner Theater Show in Betty Jo’s Pavilion, manage servers, manage clean-up after performance.


SIGN-ON BONUS:
                Once a new employee reaches 80 hours on the clock, we bonus the employee $100 cash or $150 gift certificate to Elmer’s Texas Barbeque.

All employees get 50% off food purchases on days when they work a shift.
